Monday, Nov. 2 - Critique

Please meet in BAC-45. Class starts at 2 pm for them so please have everything ready to go at that time. I will meet you in the classroom in BAC at 2 pm. Will be meeting with Graphics One until then in the lab so if you have some last minute items to cover you can do so in the lab and then be over in the classroom. You are expected to be dressed for critique and prepared on the computer in the lab with the material - part of your critique grade.

Be ready to discuss target market, design decisions and why you choose the motifs you did for the JUFF with the editorial board.

Left Side
1. (on bottom) Research
2. Visual Briefs (all items - website / journal cover / journal article)
3. Pitch (designed summary with your logo written to the client explaining the design - discuss target audience, design decisions, etc. - no personal pronouns)

Right Side
1. Thumbnails
2. Roughs
3. Final of Website (all pages printed out on 8.5x11)
4. JUFF booklet - cover (front & back + article) - cut to size.

For the Client Folder
Please write your last name, first name_JUFF on the project tab

Left Side
1. (on Bottom) Visual brief that you used for all material (combine the three into one sheet)
2. Pitch (designed summary with your logo written to the client explaining the design - discuss target audience, design decisions, etc. - no personal pronouns) - same one as in job folder for class

FOR CRITIQUE
-Make sure your interactive pdf works before class and that you have your final JUFF uploaded to Issuu and you can pull everything up. I will meet you over there at 2 pm. Dress the part of a professional. Practice your pitch!!

Friday, October 28

Please have a finalized rough printed off of all your roughs at the moment. Be sure to work up as much of the journal article for Friday. Should have it all laid out and printed. Website should be workable and items should just need small fine tuning for Friday. Critique is Monday be sure to be ready!

Wednesday, Oct. 28

Please have your finalized roughs to look over in class on Wednesday. Have options for your website looks and your journal cover. Have these printed out for your job folder. We will spend part of the day on Wednesday discussing styles and options for looks on the journal article layout.

Monday, October 26

Please come to class with your roughs of your cover and your website printed out. We will need to get started on the refining process for these and have time to work on the article itself. Be ready to hit the ground running. Only a week to go before the pitch!

Friday, October 23

Have your roughs of your cover printed out and be ready to get started on other elements of design. Time on this project is ticking away...make sure you are using your work days wisely. Will be gone before you know it.

Wednesday, October 21

Please have roughs of your covers printed out for class on Wednesday. This will determine the direction of your other pieces so be ready to look them over and get started on the next step.

Friday, October 16

Zine - please have this printed and ready to look over in class on Friday.

Please start a visual brief for your cover for the journal and website. Have these printed and ready to look over. Have your thumbnails ready to start out at the beginning of class. Be ready to hit the ground running on Friday with working on your design. I'm sending your document to import InDesign to your Union email. Go ahead and start importing this into indesign so you will have a document to start setting up your styles. THE EXACT SIZE OF THE DOCUMENT IS 7 X10. Covers are full bleed.

Wednesday, October 14

Please have your zine printed and stapled in class on Wednesday. Your front cover must have title, issue # and date (ex. fall 2015). Please work with hand type, respect the center spread, have fun with this and don't over work it. Play with your theme and what it can do. This will be due in printed form at the end of class on Wednesday. We will take the beginning of class to discuss your next assignment of design for the JUFF.

Wednesday, October 7 - Critique

Please dress in business casual. Have your digital copy of your magazine uploaded to issuu and ready to preview on the big screen during critique. Have a print out of the final for your job folder and one to pass around during class critique.

3. Pitch (this should have your company brand at the top. No personal pronouns in the writing. Section headers for GOALS, TARGET AUDIENCE, PLAN, SCHEDULE) Should only be one page and should be designed:)

Right Side (one is placed at the bottom of the stack - work your way up)
1. Roughs (3 sets - please staple each set together)
2. Final (double sided print / booklet form / with all required features)

*Will look over digital files for styles in class after critique. Have them ready to preview.

Don't forget to print off your digital illustration of your letter from class / work out into a interesting illustration. Have on 8.5x11 print. Ready to hang up.
